  • H.E. Jürgen Meindl, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Kingdom of Belgium and to NATO

    Stanhope Hotel Mag.iur. Jürgen Meindl started his work as Austrian Ambassador to NATO in September 2023. Before that, he worked as head of the art and culture section in the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Ministry for Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport., Previous positions took him as Ambassador to Belgium (2015-2017) and Switzerland (2011-2015). From 2002-2006 he was Deputy Head of Mission in Berlin and from 1999-2002 Deputy Head of Mission in Tel Aviv. From 2007-2008 he was Foreign and European Policy Advisor to the Federal Minister of Defense and from 2008-2011 Deputy Head of Cabinet to the Federal Chancellor (focus: foreign/European policy, government coordination)., His professional career began as Head of Department for cultural initiatives, cultural management, mediation and public relations at the Federal Ministry of Culture, Arts and Science (1991-1994).

    Stanhope Hotel Lukas Wernert, Hydrogen Policy Lead in the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission., Lukas joined the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies as a European Union Fellow during the academic year 2023-2024. , Lukas has been seconded by the European Commission’s directorate-general for energy (comparable to the US Department of Energy). , In his latest post he lead the first ever development of a trans-European hydrogen grid. , Lukas has long standing experience in EU policy development and implementation in different areas (energy, justice and home affairs, external relations). , During his fellowship Lukas will research on effective policy support measures to upscale hydrogen across the whole value chain in the US and the EU. , Lukas holds Master’s degrees from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (Austria) and the College of Europe.

    Stanhope Hotel Joana Ferreira, the President of Cuida d’Bo, is a passionate advocate for women's health and empowerment. Originally from Braga in Portugal, she moved to Belgium 5 years ago and works professionally as a Commercial Learning and Development Specialist. Her employer – Hologic is a leading company specialised in health devices for women, such as mammography equipment. Her journey took a turn after a volunteer experience in Cabo Verde where she met many women who had never visited a gynecologist and lacked basic health education. Inspired to address this healthcare gap, she founded Cuida d’bo, which aims to improve access to essential health care and health education for women in Cape Verde (https://cuidadbo.org/).
